Marist Tertiary Developments

Members of the Marist Tertiary and Online Committee met on Tuesday 11 May, 2015 at the Marist Centre Melbourne. The meeting noted that we now have four agreements with Australian Catholic University for the following programs:

1.  Footsteps 1

2.  Footsteps 2

3.  The Marist Pilgrimage and Study Tour

4.  The Marist Educational Leadership course

Staff in Marist schools are seeking an accredited Graduate Certificate Program in Marist Pedagogy, similar to the program offered in Adelaide in 2014. The Committee saw value in making an application to Australian Catholic University for accreditation for such a program (AQF Level 8).

The possibility of people who are currently enrolled in a Masters Program at ACU undertaking a unit in another university was discussed. It was agreed that the simplest way to enable students to do this is for them to apply to ACU for cross institutional enrolment.

A small Marist Tertiary Education library has been set up at Marist Centre Melbourne.  It was recommended that this library serve the needs of Australia rather than having a second library in Sydney. The Committee saw value in seeking a librarian to work a few hours a month to maintain and develop this library.

The next meeting of the Committee will be held at the Marist Centre Sydney on 20 October, 2015.
